Marlin 981T makes a fine squirrel rifle
« on: October 10, 2004, 02:29:54 PM »
Well, I've had my 981 out a few times now and I'm really pleased with it. I put a better trigger in it and a BSA Sweet 17 scope, now it's a fine little rifle. I'm not a big time hunter, but I have children and grandchildren who love to squirrel hunt. I believe there are important life lessons to be learned hunting, so I make myself available when they want to go. Thanks to all of you for good imformation, and all are welcome to ask anything of me, I hope I can help.

WoW, this is the same set up I have. Got it about a month ago, have been shooting the stew out of it. I love it!  I did the trigger myself, smoothed it up and put in a lighter spring. Shoots like a dream and seems to be most accurate with standard velocity ammo. I have been real supprised by how well this rifle shoots CCI Short Target ammo. This rifle and ammo will be tested on the bushy tails soon.  :-)
