Went to my local gun shot on Friday to order my new NEF 45/70..
Got a great deal! Their retail price was $270.00. But I asked them if they would match the price Wal-Mart advertized on their web-site ($187.00). They agreed to do so over the phone, but when I got there, they told me that price was less than what the price THEY pay for it. So, I wanted them to make some money too (I can't stand the fact the WM suckes the life from most of thier venders by strong-arming them to sell good to them at unheard of prices because of thier volume) so we agreed on a price of $200.00. Good price and they make some money too. THey will make even MORE when I buy the reloading dies, brass, bullets, primers, powder, etc. next week!
If I got such a good deal, then why am I broke?
While I was there, I saw a NIB "used" NEF sportster in 17hmr on the used rack for $125.00. I could NOT pass that up. A few months ago, I put a new NEF 17machII on layaway ($149.00) for my son's Christmas. With some of the poor reviews I have been reading, I decided to return that gun from layaway, and buy the 17hmr on the spot.
Yesterday I was at the mall and one of the local car dealerships was having a big inventory reduction sale. I have been toying with the idea of trading my 1990 Suburban NEXT summer and getting a 3/4 ton to pull my camper and 4-wheelers with. As we are driving thru the parking lot my wife says, "Let's drive thru and look." I say, "No, I don't want to - gonna do it next summer ..." yada yada yada.
I stop in the parking lot, turn to my wife and say, "I am not going to buy a truck today. I am just going to look."
Yep, you guessed it. I bought a new truck. 2000 GMC 2500 3/4 ton - 6.0 Liter with Vortec - towing package, the works.
I am so broke right now ... however .....
new NEF 45/70 to hunt deer, elk, bear, elephants, etc - $200.00
new NEF 17hmr to bring a HUGE smile to my son's face on Christmas day - $125.00
New truck to get my family away and enjoy ourselves - $14,000.00
total cost = PRICELESS!!!!!!!!
