I've never tried 300g bullets in my Huntsman but I was at the range yesterday checking my sights for the up coming early muzzleloader season. My Huntsman is equipped with 2x7 32mm Pine Ridge scope from Cabelas.

I was using a 240g bullet/sabot from Knight rifles(they were on sale) over two 50g Prodex pellets.  I was 80 yards from my target. My first two shots touched each other about 2 inches dead above the point of aim. The third shot opened the group to about 2 inches.

I adjusted my scope and put two more shots into the 1 inch bulls eye. That was good enough. I cleaned the rifle and but her back in the case. I think I'm going to stick with the 240's this season and see how the do.

BTW, I was shooting with a guy that was using a much much more expensive muzzleloader and scope and his groups were no smaller than mine.

I really like that little gun. I can't wait to see what it can do in the woods.

I noticed about 75% of the guys from past posting and myself included couldn't get 240gr bullets with sabots to group well, as soon as I tried 300gr bullets with 80gr of pyrodex my 3 round groups went down to an inch at 100 meters. But I still wasn't happy because I had to fight the bullets down the bore when seating so I tried 295gr powerbelts, same amount of powder, the bullets slid down the bore with ease and the groups were as good as the 300gr bullet sabot combo, I didn't even have to make a scope adjustment. Then I purchased some 460gr all lead bullets from No Excuses muzzleloading Bullet Company, with 60gr of Triple 7 I am getting all of my rounds touching at 100 meters with a damp spit patch to swab the bore between shots and the bullets go down the bore easy, ( no more bullets with sabots !!! Thank god ) Here is No Excuses web site if your interested, excellent man to deal with.

I have been shooting the Hornady 300 grain SST's for the last two years.  Great accuracy and devastating on deer.  Last year my buddy and I killed four deer and none went over 40 yards.  I was shooting 2 Triple 7 pellets but got my best results when I used loose powder at 90 grains.

HEY,
Last time I was at the range, tried some Hornady XTP 240's with 80 grains of Pyrodex P and 100 grains.  Best grouping was with 80 grains.  Also have tried the 460 No Excuse, great bullet with 70 grains of 777.  Took a nice Doe with that load last season.  No Excuse is a great company to do business with, better deal when you buy 100 bullets, only $10 shipping :o .  Ran spit patch down barrel between shots with XTP's.

I use 300 gr. PR bullets in Keith Hollow points. So far all the deer I have shot have had 0 yds. traveled after the shot. :D

I have used this bullet in my Sidekick and experienced fine groups at 50 or 100 yards.  At 50 a 1.25" group and at 100 yards I got a group inside 2".  The Power Belts are also known for the ease of reloading.  It helps when out in the woods!!!

If your gun likes 'em go for it.
