375 H&H vs 458 win mag??

What do you guys think?

375 for versatility. 458 for stopping dangerous game at close range. The 458 has much heavier recoil.

Or the stopping power close to a 458, and the range of a 375 - the 416, of one name or another.

I've owned both and if I had the choice of just ONE big bore then the 458WM would probably be it. It is flat shooting enough when using a 350gr Hornady RN at 2500fps and the 500gr makes a good heavy bullet load. Bummer is that the 350gr and 500gr rarely shoot very close to each other. The 375H&H is much more versatile when ranges hit 200+ metres, and the recoil is significantly less, it's more flexible and the more I use the 375H&H the more I like it. Take your pick, they're both great!

Can't comment on the 458 but I do own a 375 H&H and luv it!! This round hits hard at close range and far away!! I'm sure the 458 hits harder but the recoil of my 375 is enough for me! You can load the 375 with 200 to 350 grain bullets and it will take anything in the world!! Do you really need a 458? Good luck!!

I couldn't decide myself. That is why I got a 416 Taylor made.
