Extractor or ejector

At ther risk of sounding very stupid,,,Does the contender have an extractor or ejector?
My used 22lr extracts but doesnt eject.

 :eek: WRONG !

It just sold a T/C 7-30 Waters barrel for a friend of mine and it would eject the case right over your shoulder. He said it was a "hunter barrel".

Splitting hairs, but I would also agree they ALL have an extractor, but SOME eject while extracting. :D  :grin:

Someone else can jump in, but I don't think there were that many made with the ejectors.  Seems like I heard that most Contender fans were picking up there brass and did not like having to search for it.

Does anyone know if you can move the ejection system from one barrel to another?

It was the only one I've ever seen. I presume it was to facilitate a quick follow up shot. I guess it could be moved to another barrel.

Well excuse me!!!  :shock:  But I have been around contenders for over 20 years and NEVER seen one with an ejector. I have had several 'hunter barrels" and not one of the had an ejector.

I have had several hunter barrels and none of them had ejectors, but they all have extractors. This feature was offered on centerfire barrels, but I believe it was never offered on the rimfire barrels.

The EJECTOR was a Fox Ridge modification. I looked on their website for it but they don't show it anymore. I think it only cost about $35.00 when they offered it. I don't think it was ever an option from TC direct.

Thanks for the info. That explains it. Believe me I was very surprised when after shooting his gun I broke it open and the fired case went flying over my shoulder. I haven't seen one since with an ejector. It worked very well.

The ejector feature was indeed offered from the factory. I had one in 45/70. I hated chasing the brass around. I suppose it would be good for a hunting barrel though. Makes reloading a little faster. The earlier post was correct about them being discontinued. Not too many people cared for them.   KN

Have to agree with KN...I was searching through some old Contender pamphlets/catalogs and noticed that there was an ejector feature offered from the factory.  I have never seen one in person, but based on that information, they certainly exist.  I also recall reading somewhere about a gentleman with an ejector and a .30-30 that would continually eject the spent brass directly at his body and head, which, I suppose, is definitely not a plus in my book.

Man, that should have had a warning label.  I can see getting that big hunk of brass in the chops when not expecting it.  With that one the brass could be the second shot!

Should I run across one of these barrels with an ejector, could it be moved to a different barrel? I have a couple I wouldn't mind having an ejector on.

Only if the parent case is the same for both cartridges. I belive the ejector was a modified extractor of some sort. It was not a separate part.  KN
