Bad Day at the Range!!!
« on: October 14, 2004, 04:30:45 AM »
Boy what a day at the range.  First my .44 mag barrel kept opening when I shot it.  Didn't hurt the groups, but annoyed the hell out of me.  Called TC and they said send it back.

Then I tried my other barrels.  Well when I shot the .375 JDJ after the third shot, the shots where off the paper.  Well turns out the expensive Burris Bplex Posi Loc mechanism flew off the scope.  Thought the reason why I paid the extra bucks for this scope was so I could shoot a hand cannon and not worry about the scope loosing it's zero?  Sent it back for warranty service?!?

Then I went back the next day to site in my new Encore 209x.50.  It is getting close to muzzle loading season and this needed to be sited in with a new Burris full field scope.  Try as I may, I could not get the gun to shoot in the same area two times in a row.  Called TC and they said from what I explained that it had a tight spot and I could shoot all day and not site in that gun.  Sent it off today.

Anyone else have this much luck with their equipment within a few weeks of deer season?

Now sure glad I don't work in a nitro factory with the luck I am having, eh.

That's more bad luck than anyone should have at once!!   However, the .375JDJ is in the heavy-recoiling class, and the only scopes which consistently hold up to that level of punishement IME are Leupolds.  I have several Burris handgun scopes - I like them and have had no problems with them - but they are mounted on relatively mildly recoiling  barrels.  SSK knows the "right " scopes to use - ask them for updated scope recommendations.

LL,
Hear ya loud and clear!
Last week was my "getting ready for season" week.
Didn't have my load perfected yet, My brother shows up for a week and wanted me to help him on his car plus he had a bunch of loads to try out at my range.
My hot water tank took a dump and to fix it meant moving all of my reloading stuff around to where it couldn't be used until the tank was fixed, that took 2 days.............and the list continues. :)

Kinda getting used to it, seems to happen every year, but it
makes you appeciate getting out in the field all the more!

And I thought I had problems!  Hope your luck gets better Ryan.  My last trip to the range was very eventful.  My SBH and the S&W 629 shot extremely well and are both ready for the woods, thank God.

Siede Bar:  Went to the local gun show and found a nice .30-06 barrel for the Encore while I wait fo the 209's return.

Have a buddy that got out of my truck the morning of the hunt and he said something doesn't feel right. He handed me his rifle and when he did his scope was sliding around :toast:  in the rings. Murphies law is like diarrehea , You never know when it will hit and it is never fun.
