owner's manual talks about 2 minutes of flashlight one hour prior to use.

website states  10 second flashlight charge.

Ten or 15 seconds seems adequate to charge it up. I've not taken mine hunting yet as I got it over the summer and have only tried the Firefly feature here at the house. But it does work. Will give it a try this coming season but that doesn't start until Nov. 20.

I'll be trying mine on 10/28 which is the early Wisconsin season in the CWD zones.

I to am somewhat confused about the length of time required but I count to a slow 30 and it seems to work.

I'll let you know if it works in the woods when the chips are down.

I've got a 3200 with Firefly and Rainguard. To be honest, I've been dissappointed with mine. The Rainguard doesn't seem to stop the scope from fogging when I accidentally breath on it like I thought it would and the optics are not nearly as good as those of my Zeiss Conquests. I can hunt longer in the afternoon with the Conquests because I can see game with it quite a bit better as the day gets dark. It doesn't matter if you've got a lit reticle if you can't see the animal. I wish I had gone with the Elite 4200 instead of the 3200.

BTW, I'm a Mississippian also, though my favorite colors are Red and Blue. Good luck and good hunting this season.

I don't think that there is a hard and fast rule, but I have discovered that the longer you use the flashlight to illuminate the reticle, the longer the reticle glows.  Seems to make sense and it does.  I don't time it, but I would think that I use a flashlight at least 45 seconds or so and it seems to last for about 30 min at the most - and keep in mind that as time passes, so too does the brightness - it doesn't just shut off like an electronic illuminated scope.

sry daniel i think u expected wayyyyyyy to much from your 3200......why do u think u payed $150 instead of $430??

Zeiss has some of the best optics made....and that includes swarovski, etc.....u shouldnt exspect so much out of a scope that hardly compares to a middle class Nikon....just my .02

So let me get this straight...You charge the firefly up for 2 minutes and it is supposed to glow for 1 hour.  I was under the impression that the firefly stays lit for about 15 mins or so.  Can anyone tell me otherwise from experience?  I understand that the longer you charge it the longer it should glow but there has to be a ceiling somewhere.
