Does anybody have some secrets for preserving the polished brass on my '66? I really don't want to get out the Brasso after every shoot. I tried paste wax, but that did nothing. I'm going to try a spray laquer next. I have a friend that uses it on his trumpets. How 'bout y'all?

Paste wax.. I have some used by museums called Renaissance Wax. It's an excellent preservative. I think if you buy a floor wax it will work as well, but must not have Carnuba in it. I hope someone can verifiy this.

Also, I have had excellent cleaning results using Flitz rather than Brasso, even though I am shining up grip frames, not a 66 (mine is antiqued).

Big Hext has it right. Flitz is the way to go--Brasso will scrach--the scraches will be small but they'll be there.

Wax is good too, just don't overuse it

after you polish, Renaissance Wax will work to help presever it, and if you can find it Renaissance pre-lem will put a very fine polish on brass. I use Jonsons past wax for my blades at the moment. No matter what you do brass will tarnish unless constant care is taken.
