Tapping the knowledge bank again.
« on: October 14, 2004, 04:06:42 PM »
Ok, here we go with some more questions.  I thank you all for being very patient, and all the opinions you have given me have progressed me quite far.  So......
Refrence the "Speaking of deals" post.  I found the Hunters Friend website with an awesome deal for a Reflex Grizzly package deal.  I found out they do layaway plans, so come the end of next month or mid December I am going to order this packge on layaway.  But I need to decide a few things first that they will require to know when I place the order.  Its nothing difficult, and most will probably be presonal prefrence things, but still being new to all this Ive yet to have any personal preferences.  So here we go:
First.  This one has to do with fletching, or more specific colors.  I know this is a real important one up here because of the foliage and the problems it presents on the ground.  Since we have a lot of Yellows, oranges (that at the height of change can almost reach a "hunter" orange color) and reds Im looking for suggestions on color choices that will be most visible under the circumstances.  Im thinking along the lines of a blue/orange, yellow/orange or white yellow.  They offer about a dozen different combinations.
Next.  Quiver capacity.  They offer a 3 or 5 arrow option.  Im inclined to go with 3 simply because I cant for the life of me think of a reason why I might need the extra 2 arrows.  Plus it would be lighter on a bow that is already a bit on the hefty side.  I dont plan any extravagant long distance treks, so I doubt Ill ever  be far away from a refil of arrows (like that might happen often   .)
Next is pin sights.  3 or 5?  They state the bow spped will usually chrono within 206 to 297 fps.  is 5 pins really necessary?  or since its a bit slower, would the 5 pins help out better say going at 5 yard increments?  Ive been told that the more pins the more likely to get distracted by them you are.  True?
next, is nocking style.  The options are eliminator button and direct string contact, or string loop.  The Pearson I have right now has an eliminator button, but its not like I preferre it over the other (cuz I aint shot with a string loop!)
Lastly. 3 or 4 inch vanes?  Dont know what advantages one offers over the other (if at all.)  So Im clueless here (though I know at least to go with a helical twist......right?)
Thanks for being patient.
