Why can't you use a "sidekick" ML in Mass?

Last year I was informed the Huntsman was prohibited from use because it was a "firearm" and could be fitted with centerfire barrels. After recently checking the laws I found the following:

"What type of firearm is lawful during the Muzzleloading season?

A shoulder-fired muzzleloader .44 to .775 caliber. Barrel length must be 18 or more inches with only one barrel operative. In-line ignition systems are permitted providing the rifle loads from the muzzle and does not have a break-open or hinge action (like a single-barrel shotgun). Buckshot is prohibited. Only single projectile ammunition is permitted. Sabot rounds are legal. Powder is limited to black powder or approved substitutes.  Scopes and 209 primers are legal."

I guess I'll have to stay with my TC Renegade, it shoots well anyway....<><....

It really is getting foolish here, with that idiot AG who hates guns and gun ownership and that nitwit Kerry I have about had it. Kerry has the endorsement and backing of the Communist Party of the USA and it gets no press at all. The Communist Party has it all over their website for all to see but the liberal national news ignores it.
Our fine Gov. has called for Kerry to resign as Senator but Kerry just ignores him, I don't know how these people get into office, and how they stay there eludes me also. I have never met anyone who votes for them. It must be the liberal city dwellers that vote for them (twice probably!!!)....<><.... :(

They allow in-line, 209 primer ignition......but prohibit hinged actions.

MAN!!!! Who writes the laws in your state?

I could understand  (maybe) if they were tring to limit it to triditional mz only......like flintlock only....or.... sidelock precussion only.
But to allow scopes, in-line's, and 209 primer's. and put restrictions on action type.....Well (im sorry) but there must be some idiots up there writing hunting laws!!!

It ovious that the law makers in Mass. ar not sportsmen....nor do they have any understanding of the laws they write.

Sorry for the rant!!

You think it looks bad from that end, try living here and trying to enlighten them and change things. It's like shoveling crap against the tide. The problem is not so much the administration but their advisors, almost all from the liberal core city areas.....<><.... :(

That's a real sad situation.  If I didn't know any better, it sure sounds like those with the strong administration voice are purposely singling out N.E.F.!  Go figure, when their manufacturing base is in the same state.

Don't mean to make light of the problem, but maybe N.E.F. didn't give the state DNR advisors enough free samples. Maybe some new Sidekicks in the right hands would do the trick.

I do know the very good rumor is that a couple of years ago when the state held meetings to set the new laws for allowable firearms several manufacturers sent representatives to plead their case and make sure their guns were allowed in Mass. The sad thing is that H&R, being located here did nor send anyone to the meetings!!! Talk about dropping the ball....<><.... :(

I hear you. Sad, but still very hard to understand what crap animosity would cause the state hunting regulatory body to shaft a viable  manufacturer like N.E.F., within their own state!
Maybe some twisted liberal party move to send a message. Have to allow hunting in the state to satisfy a certain percentage of the voter base, while at the same time send a LOUD message to the anti gunners (by not allowing use of a state gun manufacturers product for the hunt ).

In any event, something stinkith.... and hopefully one of these days the political tide will turn. One can only hope. (( W ))'04!
