Kerry's miscalculation....
« on: October 18, 2004, 01:37:30 AM »
This past week Kerry and Edwards made what appears to be a calculated decision (they both did it) to attempt to drive a wedge between the Pres./ Vice Pres. and their very solid evangelical Christian base.

They figured that some Evangelicals were not aware that the Cheney's had a daughter that has wandered into lesbianism. Apparently they felt it was their duty to do the reminding.

A serious miscalculation on their part (thank you Lord!) and it could be their undoing...

 1) Anyone that wasn't aware of the Cheney's painful quandary, must have just recently fallen off a turnip truck!

 2) We all know that the Cheney's did not ENCOURAGE such behavior.

 3) We are well aware that their daughter is an adult, and can make her own choices (even if they are wrong).

  4) As an Evangelical Christian, I have compassion for the Cheney's plight, as I am sure most parents would.

 5) The biggest miscalculation of all...Kerry/Edwards apparently believe that Christians are mean, spiteful people...I believe that most of us would feel compassion for Kerry as well, were one of his daughters were in the same rut..

PS..Christians; keep the prayers going up...

IRONGLOW. I believe that president Bush's Christian attitude and , ugggghhhhh, all that awful praying, scares the hell out of the dems. Think of the consequences if Bush's attitudes caught on, Heaven forbid. The dems might actually be expected to adopt moral codes, right and wrong might even catch on. Heaven forbid that women would no longer be able to murder their children because they were inconvenient. Homosexuals might even go back in the closet where they belong. The ten commandments would be back in our schools and court rooms, the little rug rats might even start to believe that there IS a God  and asking questions. One of the worst case scenarios would be that people would even start going to Church, OH NOOOOOO, HEAVEN HELP US.
See there, it's not so hard to see the dumcraps side, now is it? POWDERMAN.  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P  :P

Yeah Powderman...wouldn't it be rough if people started to CHOOSE to do what's decent and right!...The Dems might lose all their power.

Some folks have said recently that the political scene today seems to be the evil one's people against God's people....

A question for all...How does it look from your perspective?

From my perspective, Ironglow, it isn't so much a contest between good and evil, it's more a matter of stupid people against thoughtful people.  There is no gentle way to put it--people who back Kerry have got to be stupid to believe anything that comes out of that guys face.

I certainly don't support all of George Bush's policies, but at least he resides in the real world.  Also, I am living proof that one doesn't have to be religious to support Dubya.

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January.....

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.
That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.

When the ill-informed claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, remind them of the following:

FDR led us into World War II.

Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

>From 1941-1945, 450,000 soldiers died, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.

From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us.

Clinton was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has:

Liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a

shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but it took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida.

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military morale is high! The liberal media hope we are just too ignorant to realize the facts.

Wait, there's more.......

JOHN GLENN ON THE SENATE FLOOR

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living. This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum to Senator Glenn: "How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn: "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank. I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other day... to a veteran's hospital, and look those men - with their mangled bodies - in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job! You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job. You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job? I'll tell you, Howard Metzenbaum; you should be on your knees every day of your life thanking God that there were some men - SOME MEN - who held REAL jobs. And they required a dedication to a purpose - and a love of country and a dedication to duty - that was more important than life itself. And their self-sacrifice is what made this country possible. I HAVE held a job, Howard! What about you?"

For those who don't remember - During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA. Then he became a Senator from Ohio.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.... If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran. It might not be a bad idea to keep this circulating 'till November....

*** I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman,"Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose ***

DON'T CLOSE YOUR BLINDS

Don't Close Your Blinds

The other day, our nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war. My
husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and I were in
the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serve and defend our
Country again today. I knew that my husband would give him a good
explanation. My husband thought for a few minutes and then told my son to go
stand in our front living room window.

He told him: "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United
States of America and you are President Bush."

Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now son, I want you to look out the window and pretend that every house and
yard on this block is a different country", my husband said.

"OK Dad, I'm pretending."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and see that man come
out of his house with his wife and he has her by the hair and is hitting
her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in the face, he throws her
on the ground, and then he starts to kick her to death. Their children run
out and are afraid to stop him, they are crying, they are watching this but
do nothing because they are kids and afraid of their father. You see all of
this, son...what do you do?"

"Dad?"

"What do you do son?"

"I call the police, Dad."

"OK, Pretend that the police are the United Nations and they take your call,
listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help.

What do you do then son?"

"Dad, but the police are supposed to help!" My son starts to whine.

"They don't want to, son, because they say that it is not their place or
your place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," my husband
says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it.

Now I want you to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who
you're pretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his
children."

"Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next door
neighbor to help me stop him," our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to get
involved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," my
husband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask for
help and saw that no one would help you stop him. He stands taller and puffs
out his chest. Guess what he does next son?"

"What Daddy?"

"He walks across the street to the old lady's house and breaks down her door
and drags her out, steals all her stuff and sets her house on fire and
then...he kills her. He turns around and sees you standing in the window and
laughs at you. WHAT DO YOU DO?"

"Daddy..."

"WHAT DO YOU DO?"

Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers, "I close the blinds,
Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him...

"Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help...people who needs
it....and they won't help....You always say that neighbors are supposed to
HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't help me stop
him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself.

Daddy.....I can't look out my window and just watch him do all these
terrible things...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the
blinds....so I can't see what he's doing........and I'm going to pretend
that it is not happening."

I start to cry.

My husband looks at our nine year old son standing in the window, looking
pitiful and ashamed at his answers to my husbands questions and he tells
him...."Son"!!!

"Yes, Daddy."

"Open the blinds, because that man.... he's at your front door now..."WHAT
DO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes.

He balls up his tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, without
hesitation he says: "I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIM HURT
MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD,I'M GONNA FIGHT
HIM!!!!!"

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to his chest
and hugs him tight, and cries...

"It's too late to fight him, he's too strong and he's already at YOUR front
door son.....you should have stopped him BEFORE he killed his wife. You have
to do what's right, even if you have to do it alone, before......it's too
late," my husband whispers.

THAT scenario I just gave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq.

When good men stand by and let evil happen is the greatest EVIL of all.

Our President is doing what is right. We, as a free nation, must understand
that this war is a war of humanity. WE must remove evil men from power so
that we can continue to live in a free world where we are not afraid to look
out our window. So that my nine year old son won't grow up in a world where
he feels that if he just "closes" that blinds the atrocities in the world
won't affect him.
