Winter projects?? Stock refinishing??

Great for a winter project!!!!!! :D

I just tried some awesome new to me wood stain its Behlen Solar Lux Stain.  My first time using it the stock came out awesome looking.  I applied it a few times "wearing gloves" because the stain gets into your pores and you look funny with colored fingers.  I bought it from;
http://www.cheyennesales.com/catalog/behsol.htm

You can blend different colors of this stain to lighten or darken to make a unique color too.  I put on a few coats of tung oil after and it looks great. You just won't believe the difference a stain can make. You may want to try it on a sample piece of wood first. :-D   BigBill

My 2004 Winter Project is "sporterizing" a K-31 Schmitt-Rubin Swiss.  Just received the solid 'American Walnut' stock from Boyd's - will send pictures in about 3 months!!

turning my battered and beaten M44 into a scout rifle, and finding spare parts and accessories for my AG42, as well as some cheap ammo.

kevin.303  Go to numrich gun parts they have a nice tool/small parts kit for the ljungman in a bag.  It has tools and firing pin, extractor, extractor spring ect.  for the ljungman.  I picked up one plus an extra parts kit too.

(numrich gun parts) The part numbers are;

Spare Parts/Tool Kit  #540000    $34.85

Spare Parts              #489880    $23.05

I guess the 6,5 swede FNM ammo is the best bang for the buck if you can find it cheap.  Next to Sellier & Bellot which is the best but costs more.

i don't think i'll have any problems importing the tools/ spare parts kit. the problem with ammo is these stupid import/export laws.i can get 500 rnds of igman for $246 CDN and thats probably my best bet. unless cabelas starts selling it bulk. does bass pro shops sell bulk ammo? theres one opening in toronto in the next couple of weeks.

My winter project is to figure out how to hide all of my weapons and ammo from the KERRY goons when he gets elected! I have a gut feeling that the American people are going to vote him in!  God help us if he is our next President.  We might as well be ready to hand them over to the UNITED NATIONS troops that come to our doors to get them.  All he has to do is get a treaty signed and our gun rights will be forfeit !
Its coming folks , People don't believe it when you tell them, But its coming.  The U.N. has tried for years to get the weapons out of the hands
of civilians all over the world. It is just a matter of time before we start seeing BLUE BERETS on OUR street corners!! Clinton tried it and failed!
The DEMOCRATS are now just waiting for their next chance!
If Kerry wins and the House and Senate also fall to the democrats,
I can assure you that there will be NATION WIDE registration laws
passed within a year! Ammo will be TAXED beyond what the average citizen (SUBJECT) can afford. And the Liberals from a few states will rule
over the rest of us!!!  I know that this sounds like the rantings of a real CONSPIRACY THEORIST, but read this again after a year from NOV.02-04.
I'll bet you will think old NOSTRADOMUS had been resurrected !!!!

HEY GHOSTHUNTER,
Don't hold your feelings back next time, You can
just be yourself here
Now think about this for a minute and let it sink in
what i'm saying!
As I understand it, statistics say that at least 1/3 of all American
households are armed! A very rough estimate would put that at
approx. 60 million homes.
(I personally think the number is much higher)
If just 1/2 of those homes refused to turn in their weapons,
you are looking at 30 million armed citizens that
"Just say NO".  I am not sure at the moment what the
troop strength in China is at the moment, But I would
venture to say that it is lower than 30 million. Therefore,
the 30 million Armed citizens in America would out number any
standing army on earth. I do not really think that anyone
will be itching to come and disarm a 30 million person Militia!!!
Especially the United Nations, They are impotent as a military
force. There are several examples of very small African Nations
that simply ran the U.N. "Peace Keepers" out of their
respective countries ! They were also a joke in the Balkans!
You are however right about the Ammo Tax!  If I were a Kerry
supporting Democrap, The ammo is what I would go after!
After all, what good is a weapon without ammo!

S. Sumner:  I agree however, the number of armed Americans is, as you surmised, just a bit higher.  I think it is closer to 80 million, and fully better than 25% of all Americans are armed. None the less, that is far too large a standing army (The People, the Militia) to consider dealing with.

And, with a possible tax on ammo, think of the grand proliferation of the black/underground market.  Man, people could sell more ammo, cheaper without the tax, and make a better living.  Good old American economics and the 2nd Amendment.  Think of the possibilities.  God, I love this country.  Mikey.

this reminds of a quote i read the other day. Adm. Yammato said "it is impossible to invade america, there is a rifle behind every blade of grass"
" oh we didn't sink the bismarck, and we didn't fight at all, we spent our time in Norfolk and we really had a ball. chasing after women while our ship was overhauled, living it up on grapefruit juice and sick bay alcohol"

The good..........
I think the numbers of guns per household is way higher since 9/11? People are buying guns who never owned one? The ones who were afraid of them for all these years?

S.Sumner would maybe know the increased numbers of Concealed Carry Permits applications? I would think the increase in one area just maybe close to others but if the population numbers are close.  "ratio"  I believe I read somehwere that the permit applications are up 150% if i remember correctly.

I'm positive that handgun sales are thru the roof here too. It's funny when i go to the range i see  MOM & POP old people shooting handguns? MOM maybe resting that gun on the bench shooting it but don't let her fool you if you were going to harm her i'll bet she would drop you in a heartbeat. Even the eldery are scared too. I also believe that many cheap yugo sks's M59/66's have been sold along with the ammo and I'm going to say mainly for a SHTF household weapon. The numbers have to be in the many thousands.  I wonder what the import numbers are on the yugo 59/66's?

The bad.......
Most people that have guns and buy guns never practice with them. It sits like a trophy in a gun cabinet or in the draw.  I heard a cop say one day that if these gang members really practiced with there 9mm's more there would be a lot more dead people.  Thats bad we should know our weapon and how it functions in the daylite and in the dark too.  You should be able to reload and clean it in the dark. For in self defence or in protecting our great country that weapon just may become your survival and your best friend, remember this is my weapon, this is my gun, this is for killing and this is for fun.

The ugly.......
There are 6,000 of known bad guys here and who knows how many more are sneeking across our southern borders right now too.  It sure sends a thought that were going to be attacked from within don't it?  There was a report that the mexican mafia is bringing these arabs across our borders with ak47's and who knows what else?  Its a sleeping hornets nest just waiting for the right time.

The truth....
There are good and bad in every race and there is no way one race of people can be all bad. We can't even get along with each other let alone the rest of the world we as americans need to change!!!!!!

Some of this has been on the internet and in the news papers too its no joke. The time may come to protect america and the liberty, life and values we have and live for.  Our local LEO's may need our support for they can't do it alone there isn't enough of them.  Those cops and firemen on 9/11 sure gave their lives trying to help/save us the "citizens"  and those were some pretty brave guys too.  My point is someday we just may have to give support back too and nowadays we just never know what it could be for we do owe these guys who protect us and put their lives on the line for us everyday even though we don't know it.  God I love this country.  stay safe,   proud to be an american     BigBill
