How effective is the Limb Saver vs Pachmayr

How effective are the Limb Saver slip -on recoil pads versus the Pachmayr
version?
I have a Savage 116FLSS 338WinMag that is both too short and too light.
I need a 14.5"l.o.p. to avoid "scope bite".
Thanks.

I put a limbsaver on my Marlin 45/70 Guide gun----pretty good test. Using the heavy Garret loads it would actually bruise my shoulder---now I'd say felt recoil is down by at least half. Worth their weight in gold!!!!    pg

I've got a pachmyer on my Savage .30-06 and a Limb Saver pad on my Winchester SS 70 .270 WSM. I have noticed a lighter recoil in both, but I would opt for the Limb Saver over the Pachmyer on future purchases.

All I can tell you is that I could only put a dozen or so Remington 405gn rounds thru my Marlin 1895 45.70 before having enough, Bruised and sore.  After installing the limbsaver (fitted pad, not the slip on) I put 40 rounds of PMC HA +p+ (2200fps 3100 lbs energy) thru it a few weeks ago with no bruising or tenderness.  I was so impressed I took everything to the gun smith for fitting with limbsavers.  I don't see how you could go wrong with a limbsaver.

I have both, and think that there is not much difference between them.  I think either way you would be well served.

I have a limbsaver on my 12 guage mossberg 500. It makes 3 inch magnum buckshot feel like 11/8 oz bird loads. I could could easily shoot 50 rds with very very little discomfort. Definintly a great new product.
