youth 20 gauge slugger.....
« on: October 19, 2004, 10:30:16 AM »
ok, for those who remember my Pardner Youth 20 Gauge shotgun I got  for my daughter first deer hunt this year, here is what Ive done so far....
============================
Home Grown Porting Job
One pound of lead shot in the stock
Raised the comb of the stock with a  pad
============================
Its at the gunsmith now......going to have it drilled and tapped for a scope rail & (Bushnell???) Red Dot scope and he is also going to lengthen the forcing cone a bit.   Hopefully all of this will make the gun tolerable for my 10 year old when we go hunting in November's Youth Gun hunt....We're using 'big greens' 5/8 oz slugs.

bt
================================
handi synthetic/ 223 REM / BSA 6-24X 50mm A/O
handi laminated / 270 WIN / Simmons 3-9X 40mm
pardner youth 20 gauge / Mod Choke / Red Dot Scope / Lengthened Forcing Cone / Ported Barrel

That all sounds good excxept for the Big Greens. Pick up some Brenneke Rottwiel MP's or some Activ or some Federal Classics if you can. Those Remmys kick like a mule and all these others are more tolerable. She'll like them a whole lot better.

yeah he isnt kidding...the remingtons rung my bell good the other day when i sighted in my slugger. i am talking like a good 20 percent more recoil for the same ballistics. not worth it.
