Quick, thats a nice looking piece of Walnut. I really like the color as it is. It should look tremendous when it's finished!!! Please keep us up to date with pictures. How long is the forearm and is it all set to attach a plastic (or steel) spacer to it?....<><.... :grin:

MSP, it's 13" long, no spacer attached, not drilled for the spacer, but has an included longer screw to attach the forend to the barrel. The spacer end is slightly larger than the spacer and will require some sanding to fit the profile of the spacer. I might just spring for the steel spacer and trigger guard from H&R.

Quick...I came home from work and my stock set had come in...I'll see if I can post a picture of it...I didn't use any oil...just water...

Hope this comes up...still having all kinds of problems resizing them to upload here...

Thanks Quick for bring it over...don't know why I'm having all these problems as of late getting the pics up...it is really becoming a real drag...

Anyway...the forearm tip and grip cap is the featherd crotch walnut...and that LimbSaver recoil pad it put on perfect...got quite a-bit of sanding to do...and filling in the exposed pores...and then some Linseed oil and were ready to go...I think I'll have to bed this one right.. this time...and proably spring for the Steel Forearm spacer too....it's going to be a real sweet looker when I'm done with it...

Man those are some SWEET looking chunks of wood there guys and ya sure got me wanting a set now......oh wait a minute ole lik2hunt is handi-less right now tho.....what am I thinking! :roll: I have a little project in mind myself tho and I'll post about it in a couple of weeks. Ain't gonna stay handi-less for long.
Quick and Mac, I think going with the steel spacer and trigger guard is the only way to finish off such fine finished and beautiful stocks. I gotta admit, I do like that burled walnut one that Mac got a little better than than the straight grain I think. Both are certainly some pretty additions to and replacements for the BORING look of the H&R stocks tho. Man them TC guys are gonna be takin a second look at some of these when we all start sportin' em out to the range ain't they?

I put the pic of mac's into my Photoed and lightened and brightened it a little and now that grip cap and forearm tip can be seen a little better.

Well apparently mine won't post a pic either. :evil: I'm gonna use hunt101.

Boy that sure brings out the grain in it... :eek: ...as much as I have to do the next couple of weeks...sure is making hard not to start on it right away...but ...I do want to get it finished correctly..so I'll be taking my time on it...it's to nice a stock to do otherwise...

Seems like I am showing my ignorance around here a lot, so I will add to it this time. What is the steel spacer that is being mentioned in relation to the stocks? Is it on the factory stocks and not transferrable? Same thing with the trigger guard that was mentioned. Do you buy these from NEF?

The stocks look great, are they the semi-fancy rather than the plain stocks?

The pictures shows 2 different types of wood...Quicks...is the very very nice straight grained Walnut...and mine is the semi-fancy...I had added the additional forearm tip and grip cap and recoil pad...and QD studs for an additional cost...not that they are needed...but the nice thing about the front stud is it is the 2 piece kind with the insert inside the forearm...and I can remove it real easy when shooting off sand bags...

The steel forearm spacer and steel trigger gaurd are ordered straight from NEF...and I paid $69.00 for both...you need to ask for the kit if ordering...and both of them is what is put on the Buff-Classic and 38-55 Target models...they just add a bit more to the overall cost...but look 10x better...what's on them works fine...and with the plactic ones you can order 3 different sizes to fit...with the steel...you have to sand the forearm to make it fit...

You really can't tell by the brochures as much as in holding them in your hand...look at the blueing and finish of the reciever...then look at what is on your rifle and picture both parts just like that...

MAC11700 was right, I stared at the brochure for Handis but really could see a forearm spacer, the trigger guard is obvious but I guess I have to find the Buffalo Rifle or target to see the beauty of these parts.

Most of the stuff is in the 2004 Retail Parts price list, you have to ask for it from H&R either by phone, email or the catalog request page of their web site. The steel trigger guard/spacer kit isn't listed, you just have to order it over the phone like Mac said.

When you guys call them...ask for Jennifer...and tell her you want the blued steel forearm spacer and trigger gaurd kit for the Buffalo Classic...or if you want them seperatly they will sell them that way too...once you do see them...you'll want them...especially if you don't like plastic...
