Anyone have any experience with these rifles? Am thinking of getting one.

I'll tell you who has Great Experience with them! Bryce Towsley has written about the Benoit family up in New England that may use Remington pumps exclusively as their deer slaying rifles. They are a family of seriously-gifted deer trackers that have taken many, many large bucks-- in case you didn't know. I think they may go in big for the '06 carbine, in fact. You should read up on some of their methods if you haven't already. Apparently the 7600 is quite the successor to the earlier pumps that 'Big Green' put out over the years, having one heck of a reputation for accuracy.

I'd say buy one if you're inclined to do so. I considered doing so earlier this year myself.....but I fell for a Model 700 ADL syn' in '06 instead.

Yes, I have read quite a bit about the Benoit family, for many years. It seems there are some just now breaking from the old tradition od the 180gr round nose bullets too. I think one of the son's uses a different rifle but not sure.

As a matter of fact it was reading about them that made me wonder about the 7600.

Just got back from an unsuccessful NM elk hunt, and noted some drawbacks to the bolt rifle cause we were hunting in some brush that reminded me more of grouse hunting than elk. Plus since I carry my left handed bolt rifle on my right side, the bolt either stickes me in the ribs or gets hung up on my belt.

I may sell my Savage bolt and get the Rem. Only thing is, I shortened the stock to fit me, so it's like a youth stock now.

I had a model 7600 carbine in 30-06. It was one of the few guns that I've sold. It was a great rifle. I wish I still had it. It was real accurate, nice and light. I would definitely recommend one.
