Am I just lucky or do I have too low expectations or ain't it so good?  Went to Walmart and bought a Ruger 10-22 stainless and a Simmons 22 Mag 4X scope for it.  Put CCI standard velocity ammo in it and shoot.  The shooting yields 10 shot ragged hole groups at 25 yards, one after the other.  Have others had this kind of boring result?  Afraid to do anything to this little gun that might affect its shooting.  Probably have less than $200 invested in the whole rig including a padded case.  Hooray for Ruger.

clodbuster;

Sounds like you got a winner combo.
But what many people don't know is that most of the time standard velocity ammo will shoot better than the high velocity. But when we buy ammo we usually want the hyper speed fragmenting HP's. when 99% of the time we just shooting paper or cans.
I had a Ruger 10/22 for years and found that the CCI Std. Vel. shot best in it. I sold it though because it had a terrible trigger on it, and did not want to spend extra money on an after market trigger. If you get one, (Ruger), with a good trigger you better hold on to it.  :grin:

Good Shooting.

You got lucky and or you found a winning combination out of the box with the ammo it likes right off the bat. Try and see what it does at 50! My gunsmith says at 25 you cannot tell the accuracy of a 22 as well as you can at 50. If you can keep them under a inch at 50 you have a winning combo. Try that and let use know of your results. If it does as good at 50 you definately have a winner.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

if i were going to do any thing it would be to the trigger,sounds like you got a shooter and puting a better trigger on it can't make groups worse only better.i used the power hammer and sear kit on mine and it was a big improvement.
