243 handloads for handi rilfe
« on: October 24, 2004, 07:47:54 AM »
My daughter has a 243 handi rifle has any body worked up some accurate loads for one?
I saw in some searching that some folks handi  rifles had long throats. Is there a way to know this without taking it to a gunsmith. So does this mean that the brass case can be longer than normal specs?

Howell,
Welcome to GB's.
Don't have a Handi in 243 but most here are happiest with 90gr and under bullets.  The throats are long but the case shoulders are still normal specs.

I think for consistancies sake I'd keep the cases trimmed to factory specs and not worry about the long throats.  It really doesn't seem to hurt accuracy on most of these rifles.

I know it hasn't on my 223 UV.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
