N.R.A is teaming up with Speedco  a company that makes computer games. They are producing a varmint hunting game. The game is supposed to be realistic, and you will be shooting at groundhogs, woodchucks, and such at distances up to 1000 yards. You will be able to enter varmint hunting competitions, and as you progress in the game will be able to afford upgrades to your rifle. Anyways this game is supposed to be realistic enough to be actual practice for the real thing, and it is educational in that it teaches you like how to approach a prairiedog town or stalk a groundhog. I did a search on ask jeeves and typed in nra varmint hunting, and went from there. The suggested retail price for this will be $29.xx.

Do any of you have any experience with Cabela's Deer hunting game that is available at wallyworld.  We got my grandson the Deer hunting 2005 version recently.  I had him show me how it worked, he has a play station 2 and a computer but this one was the one for the play station.  Looked kind of neat actually but also kind of hokkey.  Is that a word?  Anyway I asked him what was the difference between this one and the one we got him last year, ie 2004 version.  He said the graphics were better on this one.  They also have a bear hunting version.  Am looking forward to someone reviewing this NRA version that has used the others and see how the graphics compare.  Might just have to have one of them buggers myself.

I got it from the Speedco website.

In the mean time, I got Hunting Unlimited 3 from WalMart and the game aint bad at all. I dumped a few Antelope at over 400 yards with the 6MM. Shot a Moose in the eye today with a 22-250 at 184.2 yards. Dropped in the spot.

Just make sure your video card is DirectX 9 compatible. If not, it will probably play, but you won't get all the visual effects.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

Got the game.

Pretty realistic ballistics and what not. Reloading is pretty cool. P-Dogs will fly into the air with a nice shot. G-Hogs will basically just fall over.

Furthest shot was 712 yards on a g-hog using a Kimber 22-250 with a 4.5-14 Leupold. For that shot, I was using reloads. 40 grain Nosler BT at 4100fps in front of.......I think it was 37.7 grns of IMR 4064....not sure though. I had to really play with the turrets to get on target at that range. The hog simply fell over dead.

The coyotes are pretty fake looking though. Other than that, the game is awesome.
