WIFE and Huntsman, neither let me down
« on: October 25, 2004, 10:10:03 AM »
Wife killed first deer this morning.  80 pound 2 inch spike.  Shot with Huntsman 80 grains Pyrodex with a 240 XTP.  Bullet entered in behind right shoulder no exit.  Recovered bullet opposite side in front of the rear ham.  Did not penetrate the last layer of skin.  The bullet expanded to the size of a dime.  Deer went 5 feet.  Wife and I are extremely proud.  This is her first year to hunt.  Pictures when available.

I'm glad you and your wife share this obsession. Wished more wives could understand what makes their man tick! :)  I think that there are quite of few that do. congrats! :D  :D  When does she want to go again? Soon I bet.

of course she will go again.  it rained cats and dogs tuedsay, but still wanted to go.  taken boat out of water, so it would not sink.  But I guarantee you Saturday morning she will be kicking my hind end out of bed to go again.  She is addicted like a man.  She got over her deer seizures, buck fever times 3.  Yes, it is an obsession with her as it is with me.  Thank God.

P.S.  She cooked her first pot roast off her deer, sure was good.

Congratulations on the spousal participation.  My wife likes to hunt also, but only late sleeping animals.  She will hunt in the afternoon every weekend, but forget 3:30 AM wake up calls for her.  Mine is a real trooper.  Likes to hunt, motorcycle touring, NASCAR, football, cooking, etc. but not mornings.  She's looking for her first deer yet, but it will come.

God makes a few really good ones, but how did I find one?

I agree with you about mornings.  I always ask for my head and shoulders back every morning.  But she has to get up for the deer.  It seems that today was not too bad, only because she got a 6 point.

I'm very fortunate, I married a member of Green Peace.  It only took about one year to convert her.  Now, she will shoot a Moose faster than I will.  Her record so far is two Mule Deer, one antelope, one Black Bear with a 58cal Muzzleloader.  Two Moose, and one Grizzly, with a 30-06.  Dozens of Grouse, and one burgeler with a 12ga.   I never try to sneak in or out of my house, I've heard the scarriest sound in the world (Her 12ga pump loading a shell).

She is the best hunting partner I have ever had.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

You guys are lucky.  My wife would rather stick needles in her eyes than go hunting.  She doesn't discourage me or my two boys though.  She just ain' into it.  She has no problem eating the game though!!
