Looking for a load for the 357 herrett with hornady 180 XTPs and H110. Thanks- Tad :D

In the Hornady #3 manual the only load they list for H110 is 22.2 grs. with the 158 gr. HP, for 1900 fps.
I have used 296 in the 357 Herrett with good results, they seem to be close in makeup, some people say they are the same powder. I don't know.
If I were going to load H110 and the 180 gr. XTP I would start around 18.0 grs and work up.

H110 is not considered suitable for 180-grain bullets in the large-cased .357 Herrett. There is a reason that it is not listed in the Hornady 5th edition for bullets heavier than 160 grains, it is too fast burning.  The fastest powder they list with the 180s is Reloder 7, which is 'way slower than H110/W296.  Loading density with H110 would be too low for reliable ballistics; these powders are designed for high loading densities.

Lone Star, that sounds very logical. H110 needs a full case or it could be dangerous. Guess i might have to go out and buy some more gun powder- Darn!  :grin:
