17Hm2 Barrel Program?
« on: October 28, 2004, 08:27:21 AM »
Has anyone heard any recent news on when the 17Hm2 will be available for the Sportster Barrel program?

I have the 17HMR currently and its a shooter with both the Remington & Hornady ammo. Haven't tried the 20 grainers yet.

For the price, I figure I might as well add the Hm2, just for fun.

Don't know for sure if it's worth it so much anymore. Barrel price is $63, barrel fitting is $15 and shipping is $10 for a total of $88. Just bought a new Sportster 17M2 for $130. To me, it's worth it to have 2 complete rifles for the $42 difference and the time without the rifle in the mean time.

I would have to agree with Quickdtoo.  Has H&R shot themselves in the foot by upping their prices and adding a fitting charge?   I believe most folks would just as soon buy a whole gun for the difference in price than tie up a receiver for weeks or months.   Then again maybe that is their intent.  After all they could not be making a great deal of profit on just the barrels.

Actually the difference is more like $32 since you need to spend ~$10 to get your frame to em, also, making the cost for a barrel $98.
