I know that pressure tested load data is pretty much nonexistent.

I kow that when I measure cases both before and after fire forming to AI configuration I get at best 2-3 grains more water capacity.

I know that most load data being passed around jumps pressures to unsafe levels.

I know that anyone who tells you they are getting much over a 100-150 fps increase is in fact getting it from higher pressure NOT from increased case capacity.

I know dies cost twice as much as regular .30-30 dies.

I don't have a 30-30 AI.  Mine is a 30GNR.  Pretty much the same for all practical purposes.  Everything GB said is probably true however,..........I think different is fun.  I enjoy casting the 115 grn bullets to do the forming, resizing, the prep, building something different that every other person can buy at Wally world.  Mostly I enjoy the look on the faces of people at the range when they ask, "what'ya shooting there?"  Hand them a loaded round.  They look at the headstamp, then at the configuration,  then at the headstamp, then back at the configuration, etc..............

Gary Reeder claims 10 grains of powder increase in his 30GNR..which is a bit of an improvement on the 30-30AI.
The 30-30AI will outrun the 7-30 Waters by a good bit with similar weight  bullets.
It is easy to form the cases..dies are not all that expensive( really does not matter enough to stop one from getting into a barrel as the barrel will be the bigger investment than the dies)
Case life is good and an increase in performance of 150 fps is quite worthwhile in my thinking.
It works real well with a large variety of projectiles and will handle most hunting chores for those who have one.
Naysayers abound.
If you like the thing buy it cause you are gonna like it.
Thats all I know on the subject.....well maybe not all.

If i get it it is gona be a trade. it will come with a set of lee dies and some brass.

I really don't NEED this birrel I already have all the barrels that I need to hunt almost anything I would ever be able to. 14 inch 375 jdj (almost anything bigger then a cat), 10 inch 45/410 (small game), 14 inch 209x50 barrel (southern Maryland deer hunting), a 14 inch 17 HMR (for varmits) but it is one that I haven't had yet and it may be fun to try out.

I have a 22 lr barrel that is the one I will be tradding.
I haven't shot more then 3 boxes out of it in the past year. for most of my 22 needs I have a very nice ruger mark II that has been "tricked out"
