Think I have decided to get the Handi since it has the most barrel selection but, is there anyone else out there that makes barrels for this rifle.( I know it has to be fitted to the receiver) But there are some calibers I want but aren't offered by NEF.

Any advice out there for me on this or am I barking in the wind.

The wanted calibers are: 17 Rem. 17 Mach IV, 204 Ruger, 22-284, 220 Weatherby Rocket, 6mm-284 and 6mm-06.

I want the Handi for varmint hunting most sitting on Pdog towns. I’ve been to towns were I’ve taken 3 rifles and had to sit and watch the dogs run around while the rifles cooled down. With the 7 above and the 3 I normaly take I should be good to go :)

And they make barrels that can be reamed out to all the others. The 284 case is the only one that's fatter than a 30-06, and it's close enough that I doubt the extra backthrust would be a serious issue. To get a .17 barrel, you'd have to buy a rimfire and transfer the barrel to a centerfire frame, but the others could be made if you sent the frame in to the factory and bought a handful of .223 and .243 ultra varmint barrels.

I can't seem to find a blueprint for the 220 rocket, is there something about it that can't be duplicated with a 220 swift or 225 Winchester or 22/30-30? Rimmed cartridges are nice to have in a single shot.

Sounds like a $82.00 barrel turned into a $250 barrel. That was why I was asking if anyone makes them for the NEF.

Thanks for the info.

Nope, one outfit claimed to do just that but turned out to be a total flake and later skipped town on some here AND the BATF folks too.

As mentioned, the 204 is an NEF product already, and the 6mm-06 could easily be done to a 243 barrel, IF it was an Ackley Improved version.  The 243 shoulder is larger than the standard '06 at the same point.   That type of work has run about $50 in the past.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
