Looking at the underside of the slide of my Browning Hi-Power, I see a little button that seems to hold the firing pin from moving forward into a striking position ... unless the trigger is pulled, which would depress the button. Does this mean the gun can be carried safely with a round in the chamber, hammer down, and finger-cocked when necessary. If that's true, it would also seem that, in cocked-&-locked carry, even if the slide safety gets knocked off (i.e., moved to cocked-and-UNlocked), it should still be safe because the firing pin is blocked. I generally don't like to carry cocked-&-locked, and don't mind finger-cocking, but I'd feel better knowing the firing pin is blocked/locked until I actually pulled the trigger. How's this work?
