Don T. - the picture above me sounds like what you have, which is correct. I know how you felt - did the same thing at my first forming. The guy that taught me how to fireform used the 150 grn. Sierra (heaviest bullet availible to us) and lowest powder charge for that bullet. (actually I believe it was down-sized by 2 grns.) I'm not sure if this is proper practice or not - but it works for me forming .30 Herrett, .357 Herrett, 7mmTCU, and of course the 7-30 Waters. I've been following another forum (just for handloading) where they use 10 grns. of a given powder, enough Cream - of Wheat to fill the case partially, and some type of plug. Plug material being anything from Kleenex to wax slugs. I've never done this, and really curious to try, but I think I'll wait until I meet someone in person that can take me by the hand - know what I mean?
