I just bought a taurus s/s with a 4" ported barrel. I thought about deer hunting with it, anyone have any exp. with this cal.?

I think that using a lighter bullet in your four inch should be about ideal.
I shoot the Sierra 170gr. JHC in .41 cal. And using H-110, W-296, or even Alliant 2400 works well behind this bullet. Plus the recoil should not be as bad, but you might get a pretty good muzzle blast. I would also try Winchester 175 gr. Silver Tips factory loaded. These seem to strike a good balance between power and control.  :grin:

Lets see at last count I had 10 .41s' of my own, 1 for granddaughter, 3 for son#2 = 14. Three are .41 caliber wildcats so 11 are .41RemMag. I have a 425SH4C, same as your 425SS4 but in Titanium. It is my primary carry gun, can’t hunt with it here in NC because the barrel is to short, barrels on handguns must be 5 inches. I do shoot my old hunting load of a Sierra/210g/19.5g/2400 in it but not often because it is a pretty good handful. I know this load will cleanly kill deer sized game out to normal handgun hunting ranges and will shoot through deer at the 20-30 yard I limit myself to. My son and granddaughter both use this load exclusively when they hunt deer sized game. I think with that 4-inch barrel you may want to look at a 170g bullet. I know the 170g Sierra has been used successfully numerous times on elk. The .41RemMag will surely kill deer cleanly if you do your part with good shot placement, within reasonable range.

I have had my  4 inch  41 mag now for a while.this is becoming one of my fav. shooters.it is very accurate.
I shoot more cast thru mine than any thing else.my cast 210 swc drop from the mould at .412 and thats the answer.for just plinking I like 5.5 gr's of titegroup or for the higher end loads AA#9 or 2400.
I bought mine as new from a friend that needed some money quick and the taurus 41 mag is the best handgun I ever bought for $225.00.it also came with a box of factory rem ammo with 16 rd's missing.
you can read alot of bad taurus press here but I love mine.

I have a 41 Tracker also and like mine . I have limited mine to using 195 CSW and 2400 and it shoots ok with 18.5 but more accurate with 16.5/195 CSW and mag primer. I have several other 41 mags and like the 170 Sierra and 16.0/Blue Dot--CAUTION THIS A HOT LOAD WORK UP TO IT WITH CAUTION !! You know the drill be careful and don't hurt the gun or you. I think I will work with this bullet some with my Tracker 41 also.
As you can see the post above I have 4 Trackers 357,41,45ACPand 44 Mag. All of mine work very well but I also had a chance to look them over carefully before I bought them.

Hi everyone!

I have a .41 Mag Taurus Tracker 425 Total titanium, 4" in lay-away.  I thought it was pricey ($537); but I check the gun and the following observation was made:

1.  The cylinder locks up tight when you cock the hammer.
2.  No signs of black ring around the cylinder.
3.  All pieces seem to fit perfectly and it fees solid.
4.  It is awsomly light weight and looks good in my hands.
5.  I fell in love with it.

Questions:

1.  Am I overlooking something?  What would that be?
2.  I've never owned a .41 magnum.  For what I see in the reloading manuals, it seems that it could be loaded as much as the 44 mag; however, for this light weight gun, what would be the compromisse for a deer load?
3.  I know that Greybeard had some problems with his 45 LC titanium.  Do you think I should reconsider and cancell the deal?
