CZ's Mini-Mauser CZ-527 In 6.8mm SPC?
« on: November 02, 2004, 04:44:31 AM »
Rumors abound that CZ USA will offer their diminutive little Mini-Mauser Rifle in a new caliber - the new Remington 6.8mm SPC.    This cartridge is the same overall length as the 5.56mm NATO cartridge so it can work in M16s, but offers lots more power - even better deer hunting ballistics than a .243 Winchester.    Bullets are 115gr x .277" diameter (270 caliber) and run 2800fps.

Not that it matters much but, I thought the 6.8 bullet dia. were .270 not to be confused with the .270 win dia of .277"

The 6.8 SPC uses .277" diameter bullets, just like the .270 Winchester.  Most 6.8 loads use bullets that are lighter than typically found in the .270.  This is mostly due to the overall cartridge length restrictions for using 6.8 rounds in black rifles.  It is still a great round for deer out to 300 yards.  A very light kicker.
