The new model 329 weighs in at a hefty twenty four ounces, woudn't this be the ideal ladies purse gun? Maybe someone makes an ankle holster for the N frame?

I have a theory: ear and hand doctors nationwide are giving kickbacks to the gun manufacturers to introduce all these Loudenboomers with hellacious recoil and blast.
Sheesh!
Why did S&W do this? Did some marketing whizkid fire a cylinderful from the standard M29 and complain, "Ya know, I can still kinda hear and feel most of my hand. It needs more recoil and blast for it to REALLY sell!"

What a coincedence SB, I too note that the Smith website needs updating.

Last I looked the new .500 Magnum wasn't mentioned either!
I look at a good many private forums everyday to keep abreast of breaking news in my hobby.
The Smith 329 is old news now, I think ragwriters Dean Speir and Charlie Petty got the scoop last year.

The new to be .500 Max. isn't due until Mar or Apr. according to Smith. Probably won't list it till the shot show gets their look. I just talked to them last week about them.

That 26.5 oz 44 LOOKS great, but just thinking about putting full power rounds through it is making my hand throb. I think that will be a great one to carry in the field, and should be good with something in the range of Elmer Keiths 44 Special load, but not beyond that.

:eek: I saw, and played with one for the first time yesterday. Don't knock it until you've seen it. I know one person who has it, and he says the recoil isn't as bad as the lightweight .357s. Of course, he has the big boomers, too, (.454, .475, etc.) and likes to rattle his fillings like I do. This gun is terrific. I couldn't care less about the .500--the 329 is the one for me: backpacking, fishing and carry.
