Safety at the shooting bench.
« on: November 03, 2004, 11:12:50 AM »
I just got back from the range, the range officer told me they had an accident on the muzzleloader range recently. I shooter was loading right at the shooting bench instead of at the table in back of the shooting shack. He had a newly opened box of T7 or Pyrodex pellets sitting on the bench with the lid off. When he shot his rifle, a spark from his ignition landed in the open box of pellets and ignited, burning him severely. Just a heads up, you can't be too careful.

Closing the box of pellets has always been a habit of mine.  I figure paranoid and safe is better than careless and hurt any day of the week.   :?

Not loading at the shooting bench has always been my practice, have never shot pellets, though.
