2004 bear tracker
« on: November 03, 2004, 02:38:54 PM »
I am a 14-year old boy and my buddy was selling a 2004 yamaha bear tracker. My buddy said they cracked the pistion rod.So they took the head off and the sprocket from the chain inside the engine.   He said he did not won't to fix it up so i offered him $300.00 for it.He took the offer and when i broght it home i striped every think to the frame so i could clean it up not that it looked bad or any thing just wonted to make it look better. When i looked at the engine there was nothing wrong with it .the pistion rod was fine.SO i got a 2004 yamaha bear tracker for $300.00.One problem, i need to get the timeing right in the engine when i put it back together.I did a timeing on my go-cart wants but never in a atv. Do you think i got a good deal.

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal.....bet your buddy is gonna feel bad now lol.

My uncle got a deal like that one time when a doctor thought he blew his motor on his mule. My uncle got it from him for $500. Turned out the camshaft was messed up and it only cost him about $200 to get it in tip top shape again.

Also have a friend that bought a gator from a guy for around $900. Did a little engine work and it was as good as new. Been running that thing for 2 years at the camp now.

I agree.  I think you got a good deal, even if the rod had been broken.  I hope to find a deal like that on a Mule 4X4 that I can rebuild into an off road monster, or atleast a good offroader.
