Graybeard - there is hope in sight but it's difficult to envision. George Pataki, the NYS Governor, won't ever make it to the White House. Personally I like the guy but he is a wimp and would lose a campaign faster than Mike Dukakis would have lost against G.W. He simply does not have 'presidential appeal' no matter how well he handled his 9/11 responsibilities. Maybe a VP under a much stronger (appeal wise) presidential candidate but not by himself.
Rudy Guillani ain't ever gonna see the White House either unless it's as a VP candidate. About the best use for Rudy is to get hillary out of the picture. Her re-election comes along in 2 years and Rudy could easily stay visible for that length of time now that G.W. is re-elected. That would enable Rudy to look to taking hillary's senate seat and I believe he could do it. You won't ever find a female Republican candidate who could stoop lower than hillary has, but Rudy could take her out easily. Then let him spend a couple of years in the senate, run for Governor which he could probably get and back fill his senate seat with another Republican to continue to counter schumer, who needs to be countered, and then he would be suitable for a possible VP nomination.
In the interim, frau klinton would have been out of public office for two years and more out of the limelight than ever before - that would cost her a lot in terms of her supporters and I think she would eventually disappear faster than her husband has. Bush' re-election is gonna shut him up (them both up) for a while, I hope.
So, that's where I see NY politics going, or would hope that's where it would go. Hope anyhow. Just a couple of cents worth here. Mikey.
