Who's trapping now?

I know several seasons have already started. How's it going? Is your fur priming up?

If you have not started yet, when does your season start?

I got a short coyote line out earlier.it then rained, snowed and melted.I pull most of it as I couldn't keep sets working.Next year waxed dirt,I'm a convert.November 1st our water season opened(beaver opened in Sept).Been working so I only have a few mink/coon sets out.I'm headed out in the A.M. going Antelope,Elk and Deer hunting for a week.My daughter is going to tend the water sets while I'm gone.We still have way too many bird hunters to hang snares.I have several draw baits out and they're being worked on.Got to go load the truck,I'm going to throw in some coyote traps and lure,I can run a short line by our hunting camp.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

My buddy Mike and I set out a line last saturday.Had a good run on rats, with some beaver, coon and mink thrown in for a change of pace.Young coon and sows still have a ways to go,rats and beaver look good, but are not fully prime for a couple months yet.
We pulled everything yesterday, I have beaver lure to make and supplies to organize,so my wife can fill orders when I am trapping.
We will set out next week in quest of beaver and some coon.

I picked up 4 beaver yesterday. They aren't fully prime here yet. But they're getting there fast.

Our season opens next week for everything but beaver, they start at the end of december. I plan on hitting the coon as hard as I can. I don't think they are fully prime yet, but the nights are getting cooler so it won't be long. Worm

Ours start next Monday I'm ready. Deer season starts Saturday and runs through Thanksgiving so I'll have to be careful about deer hunters!  :(

Howdy ya'll,   And yes,  I have my two Hog traps baited and waiting.
Fur won't be ready for 20 days, but Hog are rooting up my entire woods!
My friend from the fourth grade,{1959} old Randy, has been saving me spilled feed at the Aggie feed store where he is the manager, and I am looking forwards to a good year.  Two days ago I took me a long walk on the old trail and the trapline I have worked on for the last 20 years, and I am getting ready to {as old woodcock used to say} pinch a few toes.
I've been working on my old traps, getting in new...                        {old used} traps,  getting my lure and bait supply ready for the last 6 months, and since it got cooler  taking 6-8 mile walks two or three times a week, over the line. And as I am still recouperating from being murdered three and a half years ago, 6 miles feels like 12!
I sure could use some more chain but no time to rust chain now, and I will have to make do with what I have.
Yup,  my new Hound Sandymay is real smart and she will keep me busy hunting at night, the trapline during the day, will, like last year, help me to train her and make us closer together.  I have been working for this trapping and hunting season since early summer, and last week I was out on the line just walking along and it sure felt good.  No people, no houses or traffic, no rules or laws or cops in everybodys face.  Just the woods and fields, the creek, the wind,
the silence, and my new Hound Sandymay.  I am at home again and lucky to be alive.  Good trapping ya'll.
