An ideas or ways to lighten the trigger pull weight on a Rem #1, formerly a 7X57, now a 45-70.
Thanks

Poliush all surfaces that contact and provide load bearing suport. Also the trigger leaf spring can be replaced by one that produces a lighter pressure. The sear and hammer notches can be adjusted to limit the creep and the sear surfaces 'polished' to smooth the pull. Polish only!!! Do not remove too much metal. These parts are most likely casehardened and that means the hardened part of the sear and hammer are only a few thousandths thick. Excess metal removal can brreak thru exposing the soft metal beneath. The result is a rounded off sear or hammer notch. Just a bit of polishing and by hand only. Not a place for a moto tool. I prefer the new ceramic stones but a good set of arkansas stone files will work also.. There are other more invasive procedures but these above usually suffices
