Looking at buying new handi in .243
« on: November 06, 2004, 02:02:17 PM »
I am looking at buying a new handi-rifle in .243. Which model will shoot the heavier bullets best? the standard contour barrel, or the bull barrel model. I will be shooting bullets in the 80-105 grain range for deer in michigan. If anyone can relate an experience or give me some info it would be much appreciated.

Well, I just started shooting a barrel I traded a .44 barrel for in that calibre. It's the standard contour, I prefer a bull, but if you're hauling it around huntint deer, you might go with the one like I got. It's very light.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

MasterBlaster,

If you're interested in a very slightly used 243 Handi with extras, I have it posted in the NEF Classified forum.

If you'd like, PM me.

Thanks.

I'd go with the standard contour barrel, bull barrels get awful heavy in the woods.  The main thing to keep in mind is practice, practice, practice.  select one cartridge and stick with it.  The nice thing about the .243 is that it is adequate for deer, and still useable for wood chucks, and coyotes.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
