Ever have a dog that was your very best friend in life?

I did!!!  Her name was Becky and for 16 years was my constant companion.  Hunted up to 14 years of age with 401 woodchucks, 36 possum, 33 coon and 6 red fox to her credit (and the occassional squirrel and upland bird).

She passed away on February 29th, 1999 and I miss her to this day.....truly was my very best friend!!

RB I am a dog man right to the core, I understand completely. Although I have had many good dogs and  loved all of my dogs, every once in a while a special one comes along. The connection between the two of you is unmistakable and there is a bond that only you and your dog know how deep it is. I feel lucky to have experienced it and am a better man for it. I believe that these dogs only come a long once in a life time and that we should be honored that we were the chosen to receive this gift.

I do indeed know what you mean. I'm reminded of wisdom of Will Rodgers who said, "If dogs don't go to heaven, when I die, I want to go where they went."
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

Howdy RB,

I have been provided with excellent companions many times.. I have often thought that I had a favorite, but each pup ends up with a different place in my heart.  Some were clowns and others built of solid heart, some frail yet worthy and others that had it all.  God loves us and sent us dogs.. that much is sure.

Adios all,
