Scope for CZ 527
« on: November 07, 2004, 03:02:41 PM »
Hi, all. Any CZ 527 owners here? That itty bitty receiver puts the rings mighty close together, it doesn't look like there is alot of room to slide a variable power scope foreward or back to adjust eye relief. I just got my hands on a new .223, will mostly shoot 200 yards or less. What scopes are you guys using?

I have the CZ Varmint in 223, H.S. Precision stock, I am using the CZ rings and a Bushnell Legend 5-15X40 AO scope. This is the biggest scope AO I can put on without going to another ring. I do like this setup and it works great for me.

Thanks, guys. I have the American model. I want to use the CZ rings, and not too big of a scope. A lightweight walking around rifle. I have a straight 4x on it for now just to get some shooting time in. I"ll put a bigger scope on this winter.

   Ramrod,  I'm new here to GBO but since i'm also a CZ guy i thought i would give my 2cents.  I just bought a 527 American .223 about 2 months ago and currently have a Hunter Wicked Optics 3-9x40 non AO on it and a Hunter 2.5-10x42 on my sporterized '03 Springfield.  However, i think i will switch them around since my '03 was bought for Elk/Deer and the CZ is a plinker/Coyote rifle.  I think after shooting both of them the switch needs to happen.  So far i have been happy with these scopes but have not had them on actual hunts yet, only the range.
The rings work well for me and the distance apart has not been a problem.  I think the eye relief will make a difference here!  The fast focus eye piece may help as well.  There are several brands with similar features.  Hope this helps.

I too have a 527 in 223. I have CZ rings on it. And did have a leupold varix11 in 2x7, which I liked, But now am playing with a straight 6x40. The jury is still out on the 6x. Regards, Byron

Pastorp,  let me know whay brand of 6x your using and how you like/dislike it.  I'm looking hard at putting an old Weaver K6 on my sporterized '03.  Thanks!

I have one of the 527 Carbines in 7.62x39 and it wears a Leupold 2-7X Compact on Talley mounts. Well proportioned and a very effective combo.

6x scopes

Navy Cop, I like a 6 power scope. I have had 2 diferent rifles with the older steel tubed weaver 6x scopes on them. I believe the newer optics are somewhat clearer than the older optics in general, but if I had a 6x weaver I would not hesitate to use it.

I have used 6x scopes made by:: Buris, Leupold, Weaver, & swift. The one I have on my 223 is a swift. For a $100.00 scope it is very good and seams to be holding up well.

One thing I would sugest is to stay will a 40mm or close objective. The compacts lack a little in poor light.  Regards, Byron

I've got a 527 Lux in .223.  I put B square rings on rather than the CZ rings.  Right now I'm using a BSA 8X32 mildot and it has done okay I'm looking to move up to a Burris.  I've noticed that even with high rings I had to cut away some of the rubber on the power ring so that the bolt would clear.
