Browning A - Bolt .22
« on: November 11, 2004, 02:35:13 PM »
Do they still make one of these? I bought one years ago, to compliment a .270 A-Bolt deer rifle. Thought I could shoot a lot of cheap .22, in a rifle similar to what I planned to deer hunt with. Anyway, never did buy the .270, but the .22 turned out to be a superb squirrel rifle. I could't find in the most recent Browning catalog. Anyone else use?

I have not seen any new one's but quite a few used at gun shows, fairly expensive.

Sadly, Browning discontinued the A-Bolt .22 a few years ago. It is one of my favorite .22 rifles. I bought both the long rifle and .22 Magnum versions and still have them both. You are right, the .22 A-Bolt is a superb squirrel rifle and neither of mine are for sale. They seem very hard to find on the used gun market.

I too have both the .22 LR and the .22 Mag. and really like them. There is one in our local paper right now for sale. The Clarion Ledger Jackson MS I can get you the number if you want. No Browning has not made these since 95 or 96. I had to shop hard to find a good used one.  jcurrie

Were the A-bolts made in Japan too? There is one for sale in one of the local gun shops here and they want $465 for it. It looks like new. I'd like to get one for my Dad as a retirement gift. I think he needs one.
