New Guy here .
« on: November 13, 2004, 04:51:21 AM »
Hi I just found this site . I have just got back into Handi Rifles after a two year abscence . My 11 year old daughter started hunting this year and I bought her a 243 youth , laminate to use . I forgot how fun these things are . I used to have a 308 ultra with the cinnamon laminate . sold it , stupid of me I know . I am going to have to get another one SOON .
My freind Fatbird has almost every Caliber made and is a confirmed handi rifle nut . Anyway if anyone was a visitor  to Fatbirds Deer hunting place I was the Guy known as JAFO on there . I got out of hunting for two years after a family member committed suicide by NEF 12 gauge and it took a while for my interest to come back . So I am here and look forward to talking with you all.
my background is as follows:
Lifelong hunter since age 5 both bow and gun .
raised on farms
mechanic
small time gun smithing for freinds , nothing fancy
14 years law enforcement which I am currently still in .
rabid atv rider
Was a founding member of Fatbirds Deer hunting place , Charter Board member of Ridgerunner atv club . Member of the Possums without pouchs hunting club , yes we now have some possums with pouches ( Females ) but its O.K. they gotta hunt to .
Later Dudes .
My Freinds say that I am to indecisive , but i'm not so sure about that .
So. Central Mo. Hunter .  30-06 remington 740 carbine , 243 youth handi , the kids . Soon to come more Handis .

A hearty hello and welcome to GB's Handi forum Mo. Sorry to hear about the circumstances leading to your two year hiatus from these fine American made firearms but glad to see you're making a rebound.  I believe you will find a great bunch of knowledgable folks here and we look forward to hearing your input as well.

Mo,
Welcome aboard.  Lots of neat stuff here.  We are commonly known as, among ourselves, not for publication,  Handiholics.  Admitting it is the hardest part. :D

Mo Lacoata.
Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear about the sad event.

Nuttinbutchunks.
I had two good friends die of an aneurysm, which is a dilated blood vessel.
The internal bleeding is so fast that one of them never made it to the hospital. Aneurysms are very difficult to detect.

Yeah Fred, that's how to spell it. Anyway, my kid lasted two weeks, and she was 22 years old. She actually had two. I think one was undetected, and the worse of the two dropped her on the floor.

Sorry about your friends, wow two of them
