22 Hornet,
I use the mandrel formed 7x30 Waters brass made by the E. Arthur Brown Co. that sells for $30 per 100 rounds, made out of new Win. 30-30 brass.  Just load it with you favorite load and shoot it.  No extra cost of fireforming.

It isn't nickle plated brass, but it it sure is a heck of a lot cheaper than nickle plated federal brass, if you have ever priced it.  Their web site is www.eabco.com, and you can order it right there.

Try Beikirch Ammunition 585-248-3660 Roch, NY Ask for Casey. They have quite a stock of Federal Plated brass. About $29.00 a hundred.

Just a thought and a comment.  I have used nickel plated brass in my Waters and the loaded rounds sure do look nice...But that is the end of the advantage to the pricey plated brass in my opinion.  After several reloadings, the nickel begins to wear thing.  Then you have nickel/brass stripped brass!!  I still have a few of them around and they do look nice, but I never noticed any difference in accuracy between them and brass cartridges.  Good-luck...BCB

Well actually it was allot cheaper than I thought it would be it cost me $29 for hundred pieces and figuring Remington 30-30 brass is like $18 per 100 then I would have to resize and fireform so for basically $11 I saved my self allot of trouble and get pretty brass too, so to me I just can't beat that.  But I do see what your saying if I was paying what I saw allot of people trying to get for this brass hell yeah your right... It wouldn't of been worth the $69 that I was seeing on other sights...

Just wanted to throw my two cents in on this one. I saw this post yesterday and immediately called Beikirch to order the Federal 7X30 brass. I wasn’t so much interested in the fact that the brass is nickel plated, I wanted brass with the 7X30 headstamp. Since I also load 30-30 cartridges I wanted to make sure that the 7X30 rounds made from reformed 30-30 brass never got confused with actual 30-30 cartridges. I finally resolved myself to purchasing nickel plated 30-30 brass in an effort to minimize any chance for a mix up, since all of my current 30-30 brass is not plated. I also estimated the cost for powder, primer and bullets for fire-forming 100 rounds to cost  about $24.00 so spending an extra $11.00 on the 7X30 brass is actually a savings, while allowing me to immediately start developing a hunting load.

If for that price you actually get the Federal Nickle plated 7-30 headstamp brass that is a SUPER buy. Even several years ago I had to pay about $45 for 100 and that was the cheapest price I could find. Midway was about $60 hundred last time I saw them listing it. Now with it being discontinued I was expecting price to rise not fall.

Ya done good getting it for that. I have more than a life time supply on hand or might be tempted to get more myself.

Went home at lunch time today to find that the brown truck had already delivered my brass. Actual cost was $31.00 for 100 rounds plus $4.00 for shipping. Hoping the brown truck stops again tomorrow with my new dies.  :D
