I've been hunting with a single-six(several different ones over the years) for a long time, and I've killed quite a bit with mine.

I've killed...

several turkeys
several grouse
a slew of groundhogs
dozens of coons
dozens of possums
muskrats
beavers
dozens of rabbits
bushels of squirrels
several foxes(grey & red)
quite a few ferrel cats
snakes
carpenter bees(thousands! LOL!)

I'm probably leaving a few out. The Single-Six is just about the most versital revolver there is for all around plinking, and carrying. It's great on small game, and with the right ammo, can handle fairly good sized varmints like coons, and groundhogs as long as you keep the ranges reasonable.

I love my current one(5.5" stainless), and wouldn't trade anything for it!

Two rabbits, and three wily old wild roosters that got loose on by bud's property (they were ganging up on the kids).  S&W Model 17 long barrel.  Best .22 handgun I've ever owned.

I have had a single-six for about 6 months now and really enjoy shooting it...There is just something about the "Six Shooter" that I enjoy and it's easy to clean....My favorite rimfire...
But, I do have one "stupid" question: for as loong as I have been on this board, I read about "bee shooting", are you really talking about shooting bees? Or what?

Thanks,

Jim

Yep! LOL!

We're talking about "carpenter bees". The bees that look like huge bumble bees, but they bore holes in wooden buildings(outside). They make great targets. It's kinda like shooting mini skeet, but with live targets.

Took a lot of snowshoe rabbits and partim...ptarima...spruce hens when I lived in Alaska.  Put the 22Mag cylinder in here in TX and carry three shotshells/three hollowpoints around on the deer lease--rattlesnakes.

Awsome photo album! Great collection of hunting pictures you got there!

Now tell us the truth. You know that boy of yours shot those two crows at the bottom of page one with his rubber band rifle! Ol' Dad is just trying to steal his glory! LOL!

That gun shoots corks. His Daddy Greg got those crows while squirrel hunting. They made the mistake of landing above him.

My memory is not really good enough to remember
that much stuff but here is the short list!
Many SNAKES and garbage can raiders.
Opossum, rats, field mice, barn pigeons, Feral dogs,
crow, carp, Gar, Mudfish.  Bull Frog. More snakes
and garbage can raiders, red fox, gray fox,
Rabbit, Quail, Woodcock. Squirrel.
Coyote, Untold numbers of Fire-Ants
(I use the mounds in my field for targets)
European Hornets (Yellow jacket on steroids)
and the elusive carpenter bee.
(Tennis racket is more fun on those)

Lets just say that Ruger did a great job on that one.
Now I want a Bearcat
Vir prudens non contra ventum mingit

Had one I carried during trapping season years ago. Shot possums, skunks, coons, coyotes and bobcats with it. Then an occasional rabbit.

I've shot my share of butcher hogs - and they say the 22 is only fer small critters. Ya might consider a 250 lb butcher hog small next to a 600 lb sow. Oops - they work good on them too. Lost count of the animals shot with my 22. My Single Six wouldnt count fer every vermin I've taken but at least a good portion of'em

Hogs
Feral Cats
Feral Dogs
Garbage can feedin vermin of all types
Enough black birds ta fill more trucks than I can count
Trees full of walnuts - they explode nicely
ground squirrels
coons
Red Squirrels
Grey Squirrel
Rats-mice
What ever else happened ta be in my sights when I was a youngin
Most men wil blink an eye or take a breath before pulling the trigger, I won;t
