I log in, write a response to a post and when I go to post it this silly thing takes me to log in and before it is over, I've lost the reply I took the time to make. FIX THIS FOR ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I'm not having any problems with GB's software, make me wonder how you have your settings, or worse, maybe a virus.

Check your privacy settings and make sure it is selected to accept cookies, and make sure you selected for GB to keep you logged in when you return.

Exit all programs and run your virus scan software just in case.

JPH45, when you go to log in click on the 'log in each visit automatically' box. I had to do that because the same thing was happening to me.

Can't be fixed from our end cuz the problem is in your computer not on our server. But maybe I can help you fix it.

Are you an AOL user? If so after you go online dump the AOL browser and use IE.

Make sure you're computer is set to accept cookies. If not it will do exactly as you say is happening. You MUST allow the GBO server to set one cookie when you log in, other wise the server has no way of knowing it's you and it will make you log in over and over and over and over and you get the idea.

It may also be a firewall on your computer. IF you have one and have it set up wrong it will kick you off each time.

None of these are things I have any control over. Only you can fix them. Have you only recently developed this problem? If so, what has changed lately? That would be the first place to start looking.

I had the same problem with the new updated XP...had to dump all of it and reinstall it over again...went back to the original XP and Netscape....haven't had any problems sense do so...something they did with their security updates makes it screwy...

We're running three computers here at my house. Two have W98SE and one has XP. Matt has at least six computers running at his place and all use XP with all updates. None of these have any of the mentioned problems. There is no problem with our software or server. It is working fine.

In every instance where somone has reported such problems it has been traced to their computer. Various reasons have cropped up most of which I've already mentioned. If you wish to e-mail me at gbomgmt @ graybeardoutdoors.com and either share with me your password or give me permission to temporarily change it I will log in as you and surf around a bit to prove it's not a problem with your account or the software but your computer.

That will not let me tell you conclusively what is wrong but I can rule out a problem with your account or the software. But then you're left with the inescapable conclusion that it is on your computer and has to be traced down and whatever is causing it changed if you wish to use the site. We've changed nothing. But ISPs and individuals are loading softward onto their computers that change the way they work and shut out many gun related sites. Just about every program out there that is a firewall whether at individual computer level or ISP level has a block that tries to filter out gun related sites. You have to change those default settings if you want to surf the sites you wish rather than letting your ISP or computer decide where you can go for you.

You can continue to bitch about our software when it's not the problem or you can contact me and we'll help you find out what's changed on your computer that's causing it. The ball is in your court.

That you could make the above post proves you can access and post when you do it right.

I had a problem just about a hour ago. I punched up my MSN home page and it came up really slow. Then, when it finally came up a clicked on Graybeard Outdoors in my favorites list and it would not come up. I tried this for 10 minutes. I then proceded to run my CWS shredder program, and then my Spybot program, and finally my Ad-aware 6.0 Guess what! 3 Data miner tracking advertisments got in some how and I have Norton Internet Security 2004 on my computer. The spyware got right pass the Norton, but I knew something was up because my computer was not fuctioning right. After I run the Ad-aware 6.0 and quarintined it and then deleted them everything is fine. I have even got a adware from the Sportsmans guides website. I have never had any problems with this site. If I had to guess you have several spyware adds on your computer you need to get AD-AWARE 6.0 Before I knew about such things my computer locked up and come to find out I had 26 spywares on my computer. We should shoot the SOB's that invented the damn spyware.

Spybot can be had for free if you are not a business and it will really find the bad programs and clean them off of you computer for you. Since it is free I can say it is well worth the price. Just go to their sight and download it. Install it and then run it every week or two.

Just got 3 posts done, no troubles, must have needed to check the "remember me" button on login. Interesting. I've never used that feature, always just logged in when I wanted to post. This just began occuring last week. Daughter probably got on here and went to one of her sites, I always have some kind of trouble after that. When she was 13 I used to think to myself, just five more years, just five more years. Now shes 20 and I think to myself, how much longer will this last :roll:

I use Spybot. If you keep it up to date and have it immunize your computer it will pretty wel stop all that adware and spyware stuff.

You have my promise GBO will NEVER EVER add such garbage to your computer. I hate it with a passion and will never ever allow it at GBO. I even turned down an offer from a guy once to pay me what should have ended up puting anywhere from $1000-2000 per month in my hands to let him add residuals to GBO. I told him to Kiss Off nothing like that would ever be here no matter what he offered to pay. That's a buncha bucks folks but I visit here too and I'm not going anywhere that junk is added. So it ain't gonna happen here. Matt hates it as much as me.

I run Win XP Home with SP2 and have no problems, and would like to add something to the advice already given.

I run both Ad-aware 6.0 and Spybot. Sometimes one will catch something the other will miss. No conflicts between the two programs.

This might seem like overkill, until you see one program catch spy/adware that the other missed when you thought your system was clean.

EDITED: One other thing most "cookies" are harmless and trying to surf the net without them can be a serious pain. Some sites won't work for you if you block their "cookies".

Man alive, that ad-ware is a bunch of crap. Who ever invented that stuff should be drawn and quartered. Used to make me so mad....... till I got adware and spybot. As for Norton, it is not what it used to be. It is not rated as good as some of the free stuff. I have used Norton for years and this is the last year for me. I am going to somehting else. Anyway, I am on the cable and my supplier has a virus protection that stops everything, except adware. They are probably getting paid for allowing it. Anyway, down with the adware and onward with GBO.

You'll be hard pressed to find any site with forums like this you can post to without allowing a cookie unless they allow guests to post. We allow it on the Help and Announcements forums so there you can post without a cookie, but on all the rest where we require you be a registered member and be logged in to post you must allow the cookie. But as stated it is totally harmless, gives no one any data about you or your computer and just lets our server know it is still you that is logged in. Feel free to dump it after you leave. I do.

Norton Antivirus is really about the top rated there is. BUT much of the other Norton stuff isn't necessarily so. You'd be well advised to keep Norton Antivirus on your computer and uptodate daily. I check for updates each time before I check e-mail as that's where pretty much all attempts to infect me come from. I don't go to many sites other than GBO or some of the ones folks post links to here if they look OK otherwise.

You'd be amazed at the companies you think you can trust who put spyware and adware on your computer. Most news services do and even the Weather Channel does.

Daughter! :shock: I shared my puter with my daughter also....CAUSE SHE HAD HERS BUGGERED AND JACKED UP ALL THE TIME!!! :x She was also a tech person at a call in center!!! AHHHHHH!! Yeah...a "know it all"!!! I finally banned her from using mine and threatened to club her to death and leave the remains in a public place if she ever touched my computer again!! Guess what....I had no more problems with my puter..... I also keep my spybot and virus protection up also....Life is good now..... :wink:
