Here is what my 17 HMR registered on my chronograph. I hope you all enjoy the insight, and for those who are considering one, here is the possible performance that can be achieved:
Ruger M77/17 24" barrel; Hornady 17gr V-Max.
All velocities are in FPS; chrony was positioned 10-15ft from muzzle.
1. 2654
2. 2681
3. 2635
4. 2617
5. 2641
6. 2642
7. 2653
8. 2684
9. 2679
10. 2687
Extreme Spread: 69.74Shot Deviation: 24.2Average Velocity: 2657Those shots also printed a 10-shot group at 50yds. which measured 15/16". That sounds pretty good to me. Plus, the average velocity was 100fps over the advertised velocity by Hornady. Sounds like an excellent pest gun I could have fun with in the future. I'm hoping to get into small varmint hunting with it some day soon. It was also the first run with my new scope installed. Them golf balls and shotshell hulls don't stand a chance on the range anymore either. Although, I think I'm still in the break-in process too, as I have put about 500 or so rounds through it. I'm really hoping it will only get better from there, not worse. It seems to me it could be alot better than that. What do you think?
