Weaver 2-8 vs. T/C Fatory 375 JDJ
« on: November 15, 2004, 03:58:32 AM »
I need an opinion here on this one.  I finally got a supply of the factory ammo for this barrel and want to get it out in the field.
I Have a new (never shot just mounted in the rings) 2-8 Weaver Handgun scope.  Am I just asking for a failure with this scope by putting it on this barrlel.  The 14" t/c barrel is completely factory. No muzzle break ... nothing. I only have the 220 grain factory ammo.  Will I kill my new scope with the jdj combo???

If you mount it in Burris Signature rings or IF you use a proper alignment tool and lap those rings most likely the scope will do fine. If you do neither of these I'll hazard a guess it will die an early death.

Most scope failures are not due to excessive recoil or poor scope quality but are due to poor mounting. No taking it to a gunsmith is not likely to help much. Most stores and gunsmiths mount them just as wrong as gun owners do.

About two months ago I bought a complete Contender with a 14 inch 375JDJ and it had a Weaver 2.5 X 8 mounted with 3 rings on a T'SOB base. The Weaver is okay but the FOV is smaller that Burris scopes.
