Gonic Arms made the M-93 barrels for the Contender in a number of muzzleloading calibers.

I know someone mentioned 45 and 50 calibers but I know that Gonic made a 38 and a 44 caliber muzzleloading barrel. I also want to say they made a 30 caliber but I could be wrong. They dropped everything but the 45 and 50.

Well, I finally have decided that I'm ready to start figuring out the display case. I promised you that I would take some pictures as I went, so here it is. The rounds are just set out on a TV tray for now. I've started working on what I think the display case will look like, and I think I have it figured out. I'll post pictures when it is done, but it may be a little while. Sorry for the bad photo quality, but that's as good as I do. Also ignore the row in back, those are my high powered and shotgun rounds. I haven't really started collecting those seriously yet.

The 7-08 is a bit much for the contender. It is an encore chambering only. I guess that is the part that really is amazing about this list. This is the frame that is limited. The encore will do everything on this list and at least as many more. You really start to see the versatility of these systems.

Flatlander,  That's quite a project you have going on there.  I'll be glad to send a .218Bee and .219Zipper...my two favorite .22 rounds.  I'll also throw in one not on your list that I have 14" barrel chambered for...the 7mm/30-30AI.  It is very similiar to but not the same as a 7-30Waters.  As the name implies it's simply the 30/30AI necked down to 7mm.  Send me a PM w/ address and let me know how you want dummies...primer, spent primer, or no primer.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt

Another update. I added 270 Ingram to the list. Anyone familiar with this cartridge? Were there others in the family?
As far as my display, I've been put on hold for a while. Dad is my woodworking connection, and he's had a bad run of quad bypass surgery followed by a nasty case of the shingles. He is finally getting back to a more normal lifestyle again after nearly a year of being down. Hopefully he'll be up for building the case before too long, but I'm not interested in pushing him. Other priorities, I suppose.

Don't know if any of you guys have heard of it but I used to own a 6.5 Grassl. It was based on the 30-30 case.

Somebody I was just chatting with on another forum has a .357 Auto Mag (I know it shows up in my old Hornady loading book)....similar to a .357 B&D but rimless factory barrel. You can bet that is a rare beast in deed.

That's me, it's not a factory barrel, but an SSK Industries barrel, in 357 Automag (Barrel Stamp is 357 AMP, AMP=Automag Pistol).  It's not the only Barrel in this caliber I know of.

It's a 44 Automag reformed to 357 Automag.  You can some info here:

http://www.reloadbench.com/cartridges/w357automag.html

Super-Vel was the only ammo manufacturer I know of that loaded it.

In an 8.5" barrel, the 125gr JSP exceeds 2000 fps and the 158gr JSP exceeds 1800 fps.

I want to try the SSK Contender Barrel as it's 14", should be good.

I thought I was doing well just to remember that much. How is making up cases for the AMP ? If I recall the base brass is like 30-06 cut in half and necked down.

Forming Brass from 308 or 30-06 is a real pain.  I can see why people didn't want to in prior years.

Starline offers it now, in 44 AMP, which greatly reduces the work.  You just need to run a 44 AMP into a 357 AMP sizer and viola!  you have a 357 AMP.  I recommend Imperial Sizing wax when forming.

Not sure if someone already said this or not but how about a 25 Souper.  It's a 308 Win case necked to 25 cal. And yes, the spelling is correct.

TCS - The list is chamberings that have been found in a Contender. All cartridges based on the brass of the .308 operate above the pressure limits of a Contender or G2. They are however excellent for an Encore. This would automatically eliminate .243 Win., .25 Souper, .260 Rem., 7mm-08 Rem., .308 Win. and .358 Win. You may occasionally find a barrel chambered as such....avoid these....far more trouble than you want to deal with.

For various pressure limiting issues most Contender barrels either factory or full up custom are chambered using base brass of pistol ammo or .223/.222 size, 30-30, .444 and some .225 Win. Some others but this covers alot of them.
