My new toy is ready for the hunt!
« on: November 16, 2004, 05:10:04 AM »
Finally,,,,My gun is ready to hunt. SRH with a 9 1/2 barrel topped with a Burris 2x7. I changed to a Hogue grip and also added a hammer extension. I'm sighted in at 100yd. Going to Maine on Thursday. This will be my first time hunting with a handgun. I'm excited! Hope to have a picture and story to post when I return.

Nice looking shooting set-up you have.  Good luck and hope you draw blood.  Nothing like the first kill with a handgun.

Hammer extension?
« Reply #4 on: November 30, 2004, 01:11:46 PM »
Hi,

Your rig is very similar to mine.  I have a 7-1/2" barrel, a 2X Burris scope, and a Pistol Packaging bandoleer holster.  I have the same Hogue grips.  Mine's a .480 Ruger.  Is yours, or is yours a .454?

Where did you get the hammer extension?

Did it have to be mounted by a gunsmith, or is a do-it-yourself sort of thing?

Good luck on your hunt!
Success is a journey, not a destination...  Might as well enjoy the ride!!

LarryL, Since his pistol is the shinny stainless it must be the 44 mag.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.  Some stay awhile and leave footprints on our hearts.  And we are never.  Ever the same.   Authur unknown.  In memory of my son Jonathan.

Hi,

Good observation.  Guess I didn't pick up on that.  Just figured it was reflecting back from his flash.  I think you are right though.  Even with the flash, I don't think mine would reflect back that bright!

I'm still wondering where he got the hammer extension.
