Marlin 336 LTS

I found a Marlin 30-30, 16 1/2" barrel, with a straight stock marked Marlin 336 LTS.  Can anyone enlighten me about this rifle?

My understandin is that the LTS was made from 1988-1989 and approximately 2,500 were made.
