Cantalever rifled slug barrel for the Pardner?
« on: November 16, 2004, 05:03:44 PM »
I was at my local gun shop yesterday and he has the Pardner pump action 12 gauge for $179.

I failed to ask or look if the Pardner has screw-in chokes. If it does what thread is the choke system....Winchester/Mossberg, Remington, etc.?

Also, is there a cantalever rifled slug barrel available for this shotgun?

Thank you, Bowhunter57

I found out that the Pardner uses the Win. choke system, which includes Mossberg, Stevens, etc.

I'd still like to know if there's a cantalever rifled barrel available. Is it posssible that a Mossberg or Winchester pump action barrel would fit?

Thank you, Bowhunter57

BH57,
As for a Cantilever Rifled barrel is Not Yet...But why not look into add ons like Uncle Mikes, other companies... I do know that someone makes a cantilever attachment that would bolt right to the Vent Rib of your PartnerPump and allow you to mount a scope... MTNMAN

Buy an 870 (the gun that the Chinese military used as a template for the pardner pump) and you will have a lot of barrel choices. Just go to ebay and do a search for 870 bnarrel and see what you come up with.

Although the Pardner Pump is virtually a clone of the 870, the barrels are NOT interchangable. The Pardner magazine tube is a few inches longer and the barrel ring is further down the barrel. Other than that they are probably the same dimensionally. I doubt that there will be a cantilever barrel in the future. If you are at a Gun Shop, have them put the two side by side and the differences will be evident.

Thank you for the informational replies, gentlemen!

I think I'm going to stick to my original choice, which was the Ultra Sluger and I don't think I'll be dissatisfied.

I'm going to make this purchase next Spring, so I have some time to consider all the options, save some more cash and make my decision. I have also, considered the Savage ML-10, since it has the capability of smokeless powder.

The capabilities of range, accuracy and affordability of the Ultra Sluger is very attractive. However, the Savage ML-10 comes in at a close second,  due to the lack of quick follow-up shots.

You sure won't be if it is anything like mine. I have shot just about every slug gun out there and I doubt I will ever find another as accurate as my 20ga Ultra Slug Hunter LE. I have several groups in the 1"-2" range, some under 1", and one one hole group. Mine likes the 1900 fps speed sabots. The Remington Ultra Core-Lokt 260 grainers and the Winchester Partition Gold 260 grainers.

Other slugs that shoot well are: Remington Copper Solids, Winchester Platinum Tips, Federal/Barnes Expanders and Lightfields.
