.243 WSSM in M70 Coyote
« on: November 18, 2004, 01:34:53 AM »
Saw on the Winchester site the Coyote is offered in the .223 WSSM, .243 WSSM and the .25 WSSM. Am interested in the .243 WSSM.

Did Winchester just now start offering the Coyote in the short mags? I had checked a few gun shops and everyone I talked to said it was not available in a varmint configuration.

The twist on the .243 WSSM is 1-10, not having loaded for any of the .243 bores, is this twist appropriate for the 65 to 100 grain bullets at magnum velocities?

The Coyote is Win version of a walking varminter. Medium hvy 24" bbl wider than sporter forend and around 8.5 lbs. Yes the WSM's and WSSM's are a new offering.

The Winchester M70 Shadow and the Coyote were the first two rifles that the new WSSM cartridges were chambered for.  I have had my Coyote in .223 WSSM now for just over 18 months.  Excellent accuracy with these new short power houses.  Lawdog

Just bought the 'Stealth' M70 in .243 WSSM. Matte blue, synthetic with the heavy (heavier than the Coyote) 26" barrel.

Let's see, now the only thing I need are the optics.
Oh, yeah, and dies.
And quite a bit more brass than the 50 I bought with the rifle.
And a whole bunch of different bullet variations than what I have.
And I've been thinking of some different powders & primers..............
