Well, here we are again. Gun deer season in Illinois. I have to work on Friday so Saturday will be the first chance I get to take my 629 and go hunting. Anyone else from Illinois going to try their luck with a handgun this season? I'm going up to the Illinois National Guard Training Area near Marsailles to try my luck. Good luck to all the other hunter in Illinois this weekend.

S.B.

Was out today in the all day drizzle.  Saw one buck at 8AM.  He did not present a shot.  Was toting my TC Contender 10" 357 Max.  We'll try again tomorrow, good luck to you.  Be safe.

A buddy of mine was up north where we hunt and he said in 2250 acres only 9 deer were killed. Tomorro I'll give it a try. Good luck to you all in the hunt.
Chris, Illinois get only Friday, Saturday and Sunday this time around. Short time to say the least. We have to hunt hard or not at all. Politicians are such great people?

Was lucky enough to fill my Sangamon county permit. Have a good patch of ground in Crawford county for the Jan Season.

Filled my Clark Co. antlerless tag this morning at 7AM.  Shot a small doe at about thirty yds.  She was quartering to me and she dropped in her tracks, from a high shoulder shot.  Put a second one through her spine as she tried to get up.   Love that 357 Max.
Now I have a gut pile within sight of my stand, hope mr coyote and I meet for breakfast tomorrow     :)

Southern Utah, Mine's a 6 1/2" tube. I just put a Ultra Dot on it this summer, anxious to try this out in the deep timber. As luck would have it, 4 of us went up this morning and found out that they have changed the way they draw for spots again. We were not successful in getting in to hunt. Will be there again tomorro.

With having to work on Friday, and missing out on the drawings on Saturday and Sunday, my hunting buddy and I are a wash out for the first season. Guess we'll get the bows back out and give that a try this next week at least we have some ground to hunt on with these. It's depressing to buy your equipment, get everything reads and then still not be able to hunt. Seems like the rules and regulations are different each year (at least in the only public land area near us). There is some land available in Livingston county(where we live) but the state lets it lay idol, doing nothing with it. Some times life doesn't seem fair, but I guess we need to move on and try to stay ahead of their ever changing new rules and regs? Hope veryone else was successful in their quests.
